James Ussher was an early 17th-century Archbishop in the Church of Ireland who is most remembered for giving an exact date to the beginning of creation. His full body of work includes letters, sermons, dissertations, and exegeticals, but this work focuses solely on improving the Christians life and strengthening their faith. A biographical sketch of Ussher's life was written by Richard Parr in 1686 in which he included hundreds of correspondence letters, including those from William Camden and Edward Stradling.
