A lovely first edition work on life and sport in Hampshire, written by George Dewar, with illustrated plates by Archibald Thorburn. First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one other colour plate, and twelve plates by Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935), the Scottish wildlife artist. This is an interesting personal account of the nature and wildlife found in Northern Hampshire, including sections on how to best hunt and fish there. With chapters such as 'The Wood Home', 'A Gift of God', 'Birds and their Voyages', 'The Angler', and 'The Natural Man'.Written by George Albemarle Bertie Dewar (1862-1934), an author of several nature works including 'Nature: The Supreme Problem' and 'The Glamour of the Earth'. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light wear to extremities and spine, as well as bands of joints. Light bumping to extremities of front board with fading to gilt. A few marks to boards and spine. Front hinge is straining. Light spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound, with binding loosening towards the middle of text. Pages are very bright and clean, with light age-toning to the margins of text. Very Good
