Sobre este artículo

This is a beautifully illustrated antique copy of "The Life and Surprising Adventures of ROBINSON CRUSOE of York, Mariner" by Daniel Defoe. Circa 1890's (there is no date of publication stated, though the year 1897 is written on the front end paper); A.L. Burt; New York. Nicely illustrated with five color chromolithograph plates and 29 full-page illustrations by Gordon Browne and Ernest Griset. Decorative end papers. Gilt lettering on the front cover and spine.

Condition:
Light soiling to the top edge of the front cover; clean spine; thin stain strip at the top-left corner of the back cover. Sharp cover corners. The top edge of the spine is worn. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The primary condition issue with this copy is that there is a thin stain that appears at the upper-outer page corners through the second half of the book...the pages at the first half of the book are clean with no notable issues found. There are 2 inscriptions written in pencil on a front end paper - one is dated 1897, the other is dated 1976. Overall the book is in Good condition.

Sinopsis

Robinson Crusoe was first published in April 1719, in London. In the beginning, the story was published as an autobiography, but it was later established that the author was Daniel Defoe. The novel became an instant classic, with four editions printed in the first year of publication. Often called the first English novel, it follows the story of Robinson Crusoe, a man marooned on an island. Crusoe’s adventure-packed story of survival started the genre of realistic fiction and inspired a slew of other survival novels. Over the course of its publication history, Robinson Crusoe has become the second-most translated book in the world.
