Sobre este artículo
London: Bradbury and Evans , 1854. Fine Binding. Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 5.5". None . A sumptuous MacLehose-bound second edition of John Forster's immense biography of the important author, Oliver Goldsmith. The second edition of this popular, immense work by John Forster, originally published in 1848. Complete in two volumes. In an exquisite fine binding by MacLehose. An admirable work by Forster, exploring in depth the whole life and times of Oliver Goldsmith, important author of The Vicar of Wakefield among others. These volumes cover his whole life, opening with his birth and closing with events after his death, mostly regarding his family, until 1801. Dedicated to Charles Dickens. With a preface, additional notes and corrections to both volumes, and an introduction to volume one. Handsomely bound by Glasgow-based binders MacLehose in a sumptuous green calf binding with marbled boards and endpapers, five raised bands, and gilt to the edges and spine. Externally excellent with minor shelf wear and a minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities; the title label of volume two has suffered a minimal loss. With a minor scuffing to leather of the rear joint of volume one. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
