Keens and W.J. Linton, and electrotype reproductions. Hardcovers, original blue cloth with elaborate gilt-stamped designs. The second UK printing published in 1880 (The first Printing having been in 1863) This is the more sought after edition and a high point of Victorian publishers' bindings.
Solid binding, expertly rebound with new endpapers, but using the full original illustrated cloth covers, Spine with new leather piece with gilded book title and original gilded decoration, minor loss to top of one wing on spine of vol II. Spines lightly faded, mild rubbing, shelfwear; Some minor tanning or foxing to plates from tissue protectors in vol II, uncut paper edges.
