Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1943. 1st Edition No Additional Printings . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Inscribed in fountain pen to a friend of the author and dated 1943, first endsheet. Formerly in a University library, their name stamped and penned out at the three text edges. Lightly used hard cover, a pocket or something has been neatly removed from first paste down (sheet inside cover) and a one and one half playing card area there shows tan adhesive, no paper removed. Good bit of upper board tip bump. All this said, a remarkably handsome item, clean, unmarked except as noted. Special Note, in leafing page by page thru the item at the last minute, I noticed 3 things. 1. library stamp bottom page 99. 2. Oddly, there is a card catalog card, showing it's particulars and selling price when deacaesssioned from the Library of Congress, Lincoln Collection, I suspect the card is a bit or a rarity in it's own right 3. the original brochure sales offering of the book by Dawson's of Los Angeles presumably from 1943, it looks right for this. These last 2 are loosely laid in at the books front. 2nd SPECIAL NOTE: We acquired this and many other Lincoln items recently. Those not meeting our minimum value requirement (an assortment of jacketed hard covers, univ. press, older items. all 20th century, eight total) will be sold in our catalog as a group named Lincoln Library and giving Abe Lincoln as author. They should be a handsome assortment, they will have one book priced media mail shipping. Should list them next week or so.
