Two volumes bound in contemporary half brown leather with black label & gilt lettering and decoration on spine over mabled boards with matching marbled endpapers. Vol I is dated 1825 [xii, 263pp] and Vol II is dated 1824 [270pp]. Half title page in each volume bears title: "LEGENDS OF THE THIRTEEN REPUBLICS". "In Two Volumes" appears on the title page in VOLUME 1 only, VOLUME #2 : there is no "The" before "Pioneers" in the title page, Page 96 is mispaginated "56", at the bottom of page 121 "opinion" and the signature mark "11" are present (indicating that this was one of the earlier copies in the print run) . Condition: text/binding tight & intact, moderate foxing & age toning, covers/edges lightly scuffed, small piece missing from corner at bottom of p-1 & top of p-257 in vol 1. Literature, Massachusetts, American Revolution. ; Thick 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 533 pages .
