Isherwood reviewed his youth from the lofty eminence of thirty-four" (ODNB). The first issue has black spine lettering rather than gilt and has the grey and brown dust jacket, which was subsequently reprinted in blue and purple for the Hogarth Crown Library series in 1943. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in black. With dust jacket. Photographic portrait frontispiece. Spine lightly faded and bumped at head, contents clean; jacket spine with toning, a small puncture, and shallow wear at head, edges with a couple of nicks, unclipped: a near-fine copy in very good jacket.
