'The work consists of a transliteration into the Roman characters of a large number of Hausa and Arabic manuscripts, with revised spellings and rearrangements. The volume contains stories, folk-lore, historical extracts, prose, riddles, etc., etc. Extracts from the 'Risalah of Maliki', containing inter alia the law of inheritance, with illustrations, are also included.'
