The first edition of her first book. 8vo (7 1/2 x 4 3/8 inches), 324-pages plus extensive unpaginated index. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt in compartments and gilt lettered direct. Headbands a little worn, corners rubbed else very good and very clean internally. Bound without a half-title. Inscribed on front pastedown by Robert Benson and dated 1823 giving the provenance of this volume: "This translation was made by Miss Gurney of Norwich and as the preface expresses it was printed merely for the private gratuitous circulation. For ths copy I am indebted to the kindness of my valued friend C.G.Young Esq. York Herald, Jan. 23".
