Sobre este artículo
Salem MA: Parker Brothers, 1890. Surface and edge wear on box from handling. A 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3/4" lidded press board box with applied litho and paper label. The label depicts numerous books in a large bowl. The bowl is atop another book titled A Game. Content includes 35 playing card size cards. The reverse of the cards are in an array of print designs and colors, presumably to represent different books as seen on the cover illustration. The face of each card has a series of quotes by a particular author. The object of the game is to identify the author and the work when the quote is read aloud. Also includes a 4pp instruction for play with two different methods of play; the Salem Method and "Another Popular Method" - adapted for a large company or school. According to the instructions the game is suited for any number of players. The instructions do not indicate how many playing cards were in the original deck. There are 35 cards present. Authors cross a broad spectrum from Lord Byron to Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Thomas Bailey Aldrich, H. W. Longfellow and many many more. A paste down on the box bottom promotes the game Chivalry with an images of the cover and promotional narrative.Okay, random quote - name the author and the work"There is no little thing In nature: in a raindrop's compass lie A planet's elements"
