Four large 8vo. volumes; in the publisher's quarter burgundy morocco over marbled boards, with green leather tips; with raised bands and lettering in gilt; marbled endpapers; [9], 10-385 pages; [7], 8-441; [7], 8-414; [7], 8-620 pages, including Index; followed by [621] Table for the four volumes; there is a previous owner name at the top of the first blank leaf in each volumes; title pages printed in burgundy and in black; illustrated throughout; text in French.~~The etymology of retifism (a word with which this cataloguer was unfamilar, and is a word for "shoe fetish") is of interest. It derived from Restif de la Bretonne. While the illustrations in the set are at times a bit naughty (the old term would be "with curious plates") we didn't notice any untoward depictions of feet. But of course that's something one might not notice.~~. Very Good binding.
