From the library of Anton Ritter von Beck (1812-1895) in Plevna/Cilli (Slovenia). Josef Dobrovsky (1753-1829), a Czech philologist, historian, and key figure in the establishment of comparative Slavic linguistics, authored a compelling account of his travels to Sweden, Russia, and Poland. The first edition of Dobrovsky's travel account is noteworthy for its exploration of languages and dialects, providing valuable comparisons. Beyond linguistic aspects, the narrative also delves into the libraries he visited and the manuscripts and printed books he encountered and documented.
