Sobre este artículo

20 pages, nearly square, 10.5"t x 9.25"w. Undated, circa 1930/40, NOT the one listed in Baumgarten's, perhaps the same illustrations in a shorter format. Very nice dust wrapper complete with 1 repaired tear. Staples pulling away, else fine contents and text block. The DJ has the better and brighter illustrations though, but unfortunately no credit is published and the artist's name .....Eleanor Macon? or similar, sorry I can not make the signature out. Book covers and DJ cary the same illustration, seen then 4 times. Lovely and Bright!

Sinopsis

The Story of Little Black Sambo, a children's book by Helen Bannerman, a Scot who lived for 30 years in Madras in southern India, was first published in London in 1899. (An American edition of the book was illustrated by Florence White Williams. ) In the tale, an Indian boy named Sambo prevails over a group of hungry tigers. The little boy has to give his colourful new clothes, shoes, and umbrella to four tigers so they will not eat him.

Reseñas

El Jan 14 2015, un lector dijo:
When I was a young I thought this was a great book. I never considered this book racist. But back then I didn't know what racism was. Sambo could have pink with yellow polka dots I would never have known the difference. Only when the grown ups made it racist did this ever enter my mind.
