Sobre este artículo

New York: The Platt & Munk Co., Inc, 1930. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Near fine/Very good. Square 8vo. First printing. Original red cloth, with a glossy, color cover illustration and 9 titles listed on the verso of the front free endpaper, ending with this title. No "trademark" under the title, and in the lower left corner a two line imprint beginning with "No. 358." A near fine copy with only light wear.

The dustwrapper is later, with no prices on the rear flap with with ten titles listed. There are closed tears along the upper and lower edges, and a small piece lacking near the bottom rear of the spine. It still gives a very good appearance, with minimal soiling.

The tale was written by Arnold Munk under the name of Watty Piper, from oral tales as well as 1902 and 1910 printings by Mary Jacobs, later Mabel Bragg, under the title "The Pony Engine'.

Sinopsis

Everyone loves The Little Engine That Could, that classic tale of the determined little engine that, despite its size, triumphantly pulls a train full of toys to the waiting children on the other side of a mountain. The Little Engine that Could is an American fairytale that gained popularity and became a classic children’s book in 1930 when published by Platt & Munk under the pen name Watty Piper. An earlier version of the story was printed in the New York Tribune in 1906, and in the same year in a Sunday School publication Wellspring for Young People under the title “Thinking One Can.” The 1954 Platt & Munk version with illustrations by George and Doris Hauman is the best-known version of this book. -
