Aldus Printers, 1955. Limited ed. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Square 12mo in light red cloth lettered in gilt. 33 pp. With six full page drawings by Maria Horvath produced specially for this edition. Fine in original glassine dust wrapper with two nicks to the spine. The colophon page states that this is a limited edition printed on Strathmore Impress paper for friends of Aldus Printers, Christmas 1955. First published in 1916, Burnett's Christmas parable of a wretched hunchbacked little boy who is driven from his home and convinced to think of himself as an evil misfit. He wanders toward Bethlehem and feels peace and contentment when passed on the road by a young woman and man riding on a donkey; he sees a bright star, follows it and next morning finds the couple and their newborn son in a manger, surrounded by peaceful blue light.
