Sobre este artículo
Cleveland / New York: The World Publishing Company / Wm. H. Wise & Co. (guide). Very Good with no dust jacket. 1928, 1926. Leather. A complete 14 volume set of Elbert Hubbard's series of profiles of the world's most eminent people. Each profile with a black & white portrait of the subject. The title of this work is a little misleading: the lives of the subjects are examined, rather than visiting their homes. The guide is a one-volume version of the larger set, with brief profiles of the subjects. This 1928 reprint set follows the earlier Roycrofters editions which appeared at the end of the nineteenth century. Each volume about 350-400 pp. --- Organized by occupations of the subjects: Volume 1: Good Men and Great, V. 2: Famous Women, V. 3: American Statesmen, V. 4: Eminent Painters, V. 5: English Authors, V. 6: Eminent Artists, V. 7: Eminent Orators, V. 8: Great Philosophers, V. 9: Great Reformers, V. 10: Great Teachers, V. 11: Great Businessmen, V. 12: Great Scientists, V. 13: Great Lovers, V. 14: Great Musicians. --- In full tan cloth-covered boards with decorations and bust of Hubbard to covers in blind; titling on paper labels pasted to spines, brown topstain. With woodcut artwork to title pages and many chapter headings. Volumes lack the dust jackets. --- With whitish discoloration to the lower corners of a couple of the books, else a tightly-bound, unmarked set. The guide's spine has some darkening. (NOTE: Due to the weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested for shipments beyond the U.S.) ; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall .
