Sobre este artículo

London: Frederick Warne & Co. , [1925]. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Fair. 8" by 6". C. E. Brock. An exciting later edition of this popular children's novel by Frances Burnett with numerous illustrations by the noted artist C. E .Brock. A charming later edition of this novel, a copy dated from Jisc from other copies illustrated by C. E. Brock. A popular Victorian story for children, originally written by Frances Hodgson Burnett as a serial in 'St. Nicholas Magazine in 1885 and 1886. The first edition in book forma appeared in the same year 1886. Much like many Victorian children stories, this novel wants to educate children with the moralistic story of young Cedric Errol who lives with his mother in genteel poverty after the death of his father, and displays immense kindness and honesty. Notably, in 1888 Burnett won a lawsuit against E. V. Seebohm over the rights to theatrical adaptations of the work, setting a precedent in copyright law. Illustrated with numerous full page coloured plates and head and tail pieces as well as some in text illustrations by C. E. Brock. Collated, complete. With the unclipped dust wrapper.  In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The cloth to the spine has only slightly faded. With a minor previous ownership signature to the front free endpaper. The dust wrapper is heavily worn with shelf wear and chipping as well as the occasional closed tear, with a substantial loss of the spine, which is slightly sunned with some soiling. The rear wrap is detached. Internally, firmly bound. With only a faint minor spotting to the first and last few leaves, otherwise the pages are very clean throughout. Illustrated with numerous full page coloured plates and head and tail pieces as well as some in text illustrations by C. E. Brock. Collated, complete.  Very Good Indeed

Sinopsis

Little Lord Fauntleroy is the first children's novel written by English–American playwright and author Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is a classic 'rags-to-riches' story, and was originally published as a serial in the St. Nicholas Magazine between November 1885 and October 1886, then as a book by Scribner's in 1886. The accompanying illustrations by Reginald Birch set fashion trends and Little Lord Fauntleroy also set a precedent in copyright law when in 1888 its author won a lawsuit against E. V. Seebohm over the rights to theatrical adaptations of the work.-
