F. G. Melcher, Isaiah Thomas, 1944. This is an ex-library copy from their vintage book vault. Green stiff wraps with spine sticker, some wear but binding is secure Small - 3.14/16 x 2.5/8. 124 pages. Per the title page: With two letters from Jack the Giant-Killer; As also a Ball and Pincusion; The Use of which will infallibly make Tommy a Good Boy and Polly a Good Girl. To which is added A Little Song Book, being a new attempt to teach children the Use of the English Alphabet, by way of Diversion. (The letter 'f' is used in place of the letter 's' throughout.) On the copyright page: Little Pretty Pocket Book was the first volume published for children by John Newbery of London of that edition, June 1744. No single copy has survived. The first American edition was published by Isaiah Thomas at Worcester Mass in 1787. This facsimile from the copy in the New York Public Library is issued by F. G. Melcher on the tenth of June 1944 on the 200th Anniversary of the Book's first appearance.. Illus. by Illustrated. 48mo - over 3 - 4" tall. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket.
