First published in 1840, Little Robinson Crusoe of Paris, is the story of two waifs of Paris - a boy and a dog. Eugenie Foa was a prolific nineteenth century writer of books for children. Illustrated, red cloth on board binding with gilt letters on front and spine. Illustrated endpapers by M.L. Kirk: Woman with long Rapunzel like hair, a spinningwheel; a border of roses. Wonderful book plate depicting Puckish-fellow in library holding enormous book. Colour plat e by Oldham, frontpiece and 7 others throughout book with captions such as: "Camille was nibbling at the wing of a chicken"; "Marie opened her apron and showed a pretty pair of white pigeons," "I do n ot want the reward, Madam, I want fox." These illus. are charming. The text is in superb cond.: bright, tight and clean. 21 chapters with chapter titles such as: "Little Dog Friday of Paris:, "Like Ro binson Crusoe's Cave", "The Strange Footprint". This is a lovely copy of a great book much loved by French children. . Cover is clean and bright. Former owner's book plate inside front cover. Text is clean and unmarked.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
