Book This is a set of two copies of Lenski's book, one published by Oxford University Press in 1944 in a dust jacket and one published by Random House in 2003. The pictures in the 1944 printing are in grey scale; those in the 2003 printing are in full color Size: 12 mo (7-7 1/2"). 48 pages. Item Type: Book. 1944 printing: Very Good+ hard cover bound in yellow buckram over boards with a black drawing of a sailboat on the front cover and the title in black on the spine. Corners sharp with a small bump to the front bottom corner. Spine shows minimal shelf wear at the head and foot. Book is slightly shaken, but generally tight. Text block has no marks or foxing, but the paper is slightly tanned from age. 2003 printing (by Random House): Hardback in Near Fine condition bound in full color glossy paper over boards. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked . 1944 printing: Unclipped dust jacket (75 cents). The edges show some wear, primarily at the head and foot of the spine and foot on the front fold. At some point in the past what looks like muscilage glue (the old kind used in schools in the 1950s in a glass bottle with a rubber tip applicator) was spilled on the front panel, resulted in light brown blotches on the sail and Capt. Small's hat and face. It has been protected in a clear sleeve for some time. 2003 printing: No dust jacket (as issued). Illustrator: Lois Lenski. Quantity Available: 1. Sinopsis

Lois Lenski was the author and illustrator of more than 90 books for children, including the very popular "Mr. Small" picture books. She is counted among the most influential author-illustrators of the twentieth century. She was awarded the Newbery Medal for STRAWBERRY GIRL and a Newbery Honor for both INDIAN CAPTIVE and PHEBE FAIRCHILD.
