Covers: burgundy/pink, w/ gilt titles spine; no shelfwear. Slipcases: both lightly sunned and modestly to moderately worn, w/ scuffs and a sm tear to vol 1 case. A lovely set, gently used.

Marbled paper slipcase with very light edge wear. A nice clean set. Edition of 1500, this is number 256, signed by the designer of the set Giovanni Mardersteig. Selected and introduced by Marilyn Aronberg Lavin. Illustrated with the work of the Masters.

A little glue residue on the front pastedowns else fine in near fine dustwrappers with lightly tanned spines, a thin water stain in the center of the spine of volume one, housed in a near fine slipcase with light wear at the corners. One of 1500 copies numbered and signed by the book designer.

A crisp, clean, lovely set, about fine, in near fine dust jackets, gently toned on the spines, and the publisher's slipcase, with silk ribbon; fine. This is number 1308 of 1500 limited sets SIGNED by book designer and printer Giovanni Mardersteig on the limitation page.

Two small folio (8-1/2" x 11-1/2") volumes in original brown buckram in grey printed dustwrappers. With 32 color reproductions tipped in and numerous woodcut portraits of the artists, most of which are reproductions of the woodcuts Giorgio Vasari executed for the 1568 edition and with five portraits executed by Fritz Kredel for the present edition. Of a total of 1500 copies printed at the Stamperia Valdonega, Verona, and SIGNED by the printer and designer Giovanni Mardersteig, this copy is not numbered but in place of the number is written in ink "Office Copy." The SIGNED colophon also bears the presentation blindstamp that usually accompanies lettered copies. Monthly Letter laid in.
