Sobre este artículo

New York : G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1956 Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Book Club Edition. NF/ VG Near Fine hardcover, red boards stiff and unmarked with sharp corners, strong straight square spine. Yellow titles on spine, with very slight shelf wear at top. Pages are unmarked. This book opens like new and feels as though it has never been read, brand new besides vintage age! Back cover contains quotes from Great Writers on Reading. Sight shelf wear, with three chips at top of front cover as well as the top of the spine, and one small tear on the top of the back cover (1/2 inch). Welcome to Burmah, before WWII. Jenny escapes the fate of her Burmese mother and brother, drowned by invading Japanese troops, and her Father the English soldier, imprisoned. She is brought up by a Burmese family, who she marries into. The day her father, having been released, discovers she is alive, could have been a happy one. But the web of deceit woven by the English family she has never known pulls this "strange young girl - half frightened child, half grieving woman. . . half way round the globe, plunging her into an alien way of life which she had no heart to master.".
