Octavo. x, 411pp. Brown cloth, illustrated endpapers. Ownership signature of Raymond Griffith on front fly. Tiny bookseller ticket (Stanley Rose Fine Books) on rear pastedown, gutter cracked with neatly repaired hinges, short tear at the front joint with faint stains on the bottom edge, very good, lacking the dust jacket. Fort's third published nonfiction book dealing with paranormal phenomena in which he coined the now-popular term "teleportation," suggesting that a cosmic joker is responsible for the teleportation of people, animals, and materials. The book also spends a great deal of time on astronomy where he regards astronomers as charlatan prophets. The book is used extensively in the 2004 children's art mystery novel, *Chasing Vermeer* written by Blue Balliett.
