Londra: A Spese di H. Berthoud, 1822. vi,276;[2],234pp. Two volumes bound in one. Octavo. Full contemporary black diced calf, spine gilt extra, gilt label. Extremities rubbed, otherwise a very good copy. First edition, and the author's own copy, of this rare Italian language romance published in London. Signed by the author in ink on the title, and twice in pencil (with two variant addresses) on the free endsheet. Santagnello advertises his services as an Italian tutor at Bryantstone Square on the verso of the dedication leaf. In his note preceding the narrative, he refers to his promise of this work in the Preface to his earlier DIEGO DI VILLAMORA, also published in London, by Warren. COPAC locates a single copy of this work, in the Brotherton Library, at Leeds Univ, but no copies of its predecessor. His publications relating to Italian linguistics, including a Dictionary and a Grammar, are well represented.
