Montpellier: Coulet et Fils, 1908. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo (large). Second Edition. Quarter bound morocco over blue marbled boards. 471 p.p. Bookplate of C.B. Farrar on front pastedown. Joints worn; corners bruised with wear to tips. Light rubbing to boards, extremities. Small ownership signature on title-page, otherwise interior clean and a very good copy. Interesting book about the history of Occultism by French neurologist Joseph Grasset [1849-1918] who was interested in and investigated paranormal phenomenon. In this second, revised edition, Grasset explores fraudulent mediums, spirit materialization, crystallomancy (crystal-gazing), hypnosis and mentalism, and other paranormal claims.
