Sobre este artículo

Montreal: Mcgill Queens Univ Pr. Very Good. 1995. Reprint. Paperback. 0773513469 . Card covers show light shelf wear. ; A bright, solid book.; Trade PB; 8.97 X 6.04 X 1.18 inches; 404 pages; "Providing a global picture of a critically important environmental and social issue, Patricia Marchak investigates the tremendous changes taking place in the forestry industry and their ecological, social, and economic impact." "With the growth of industrial forestry in the southern hemisphere and the restructuring of forestry in the northern hemisphere, the industry is undergoing tremendous change. This book investigates the transformations that are taking place, and their ecological, social and economic impact. Patricia Marchak examines issues particular to the northern and southern regions and the global effects of trends in each area, using British Columbia, Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, and Thailand as full case studies and Malaysia, Myanmar, and other south-east Asian regions as shorter case studies. She also examines Japanese forestry and the Japanese paper industry. The book provides in-depth analyses of the restructuring of the global division of labour; the effect of Japanese demand for pulp; changes in employment, production, land policies, and markets in northern countries; deforestation; plantation forestry; and the influence of European, North American, and Japanese companies on tropical forests and peoples. Marchak considers whether industrial forestry is sustainable and suggests ways in which global demand for forest products can be met in more efficient and more sustainable ways." .

Sobre Ainsworth Books

Ainsworth Books was for many years a bricks and mortar store in Vancouver, BC. When we acquired the store, we moved to a location in Delta. After three years we moved the stock home and started operation as an online, by appointment only operation. I have worked with books my whole adult life and enjoy giving recommendations.
