This edition, the first in English, was extensively rewritten by Popper, with new footnotes and 150 pages of new appendices, including a manuscript facsimile of a letter from Einstein, discussing Heisenberg's interpretation of quantum theory. It was published in both UK and US editions (the latter slightly preceding the former). The work was published in German in 1934. Octavo. Original grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt on red ground, light grey endpapers, top edge red. With dust jacket. Tables, diagrams, and manuscript facsimiles in the text. Bookseller's ticket of H. K. Lewis, London, to front pastedown. Minimal bumping, slight sag to spine, minor foxing to edges; light toning, creasing, and foxing to unclipped jacket, short closed tear to lower edge of front panel, neatly repaired with tape to verso: a very good copy indeed in like jacket.
Sinopsis
Logik der Forschung is a 1934 book by Karl Popper. It was originally written in German, but reformulated in English by Popper himself some years later, to be published as The Logic of Scientific Discovery in 1959. This forms the rare case of a major work to appear in two languages, both written by the author instead of being translated. Sir Peter Medawar called it "one of the most important documents of the twentieth century.
