Sobre este artículo

London: W. H. Allen, 1959. First edition. Cloth. Good/Good. 8" by 5.5". None. A first edition of this collection of short stories from Alan Sillitoe. The work focuses on Smith, a poor Nottingham teenager from a dismal home in a working class area, who has bleak prospects in life and few interests beyond petty crime. The boy turns to long-distance running as a method of both an emotional and a physical escape from his situation. In a green cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with just some slight edgewear. Dustwrapper is smart, with just some occasional foxing and handling marks. Internally, firmly bound. Front endpaper has been removed. Previous owner's ink stamps to half-title. Pages are bright and quite clean, with just a few instances of foxing. Good

Sinopsis

Alan Sillitoe was born in 1928, the son of a tannery worker. He left school at age fourteen to work in a factory. He was one of the working-class novelists who revitalized British fiction in the 1950s. His first novel Saturday Night and Sunday Morning was followed with the bestselling collection The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner . He adapted both works for the screen in the early 1960s. He is the author of more than 40 works of prose, poetry, and drama.
