Illustrated. Frontispiece. 12mo. Original pictorial cloth. Boston, 1881. First Edition. Presentation copy inscribed by Longfellow on the front flyleaf, "Fanny C. Stone with kind regards of H.W.L." [Frances Coolidge Stone was a friend of Longfellow's daughter Alice. She was the daughter of Eben F. Stone of Newburyport, MA, who served in the Massachusetts Senate in the 1850s and was a U.S. Congressman in the 1880s.]
Longfellow has also signed his name on page 63 under his birthday listing for February 27.Many other signatures are inscribed on their birthdates throughout the book. Binding worn at edges and corners; o/w a fine copy.
