New York: Didier Publishing Company, 1944. Presumed first American edition. 8vo, 298pp. Publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt on spine, illustrated jacket and adaptation of a William Blake Drawing. Very good, boards slightly bowed and with some bruising to spine ends, clean internally. Jacket very good with toning to rear panel, some rubbing, and a few small chips to edges of front and rear panels and spine ends. Collection of supernatural stories passed down by family and friends and kept in manuscript by the Viscount Halifax, Edward Frederick Lindley Wood (1881-1959). Originally published in London by Geoffrey Bles in 1936, with a second volume appearing in 1937. The American edition by Didier is uncommon in the jacket.
