This is a handsome set of "LORNA DOONE" - A Romance of Exmoor by R.D. Blackmore. Circa 1890's (there is no date of publication stated); Porter & Coates; Philadelphia. Complete set in 2 volumes. The set features beautifully designed gilt covers and spines, ribbon page markers, gilt top page edges, and dozens of full-page illustrations and photographs in both volumes (each is protected by a captioned tissue guard).
Condition:
Clean covers and spines with bright gilt; sharp corners. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. Bright gilt top page edges. The front end paper of volume I has a couple small stains. The end papers and pastedowns of both volumes have a very faint outline of a jacket flap (the volumes were originally issued with dust jackets, which are not included). The text pages are in great condition with no issues found. The ribbon page marker in volume I is present, but has separated from the spine. Overall a wonderful set.
