Sobre este artículo

Los Angeles: New Way Enterprises, 1970. Tabloid. Good. Side folding tabloid format. 72 pp between the two parts. An issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with an article by Ed Sanders on the gas chamber and death penalty in California; a column by Harlan Ellison in which he discusses the uses and meaning of the word punk, especially on television; an article on the acceptance of gays in religious groups, highlighting a meeting at the First Unitarian Church in Los Angeles; an article on the Gay Liberation Front crashing a meeting at the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton in Los Angeles to protest classification of homosexuality as a mental illness by mental health professionals; the failure of a second occupation by Native Americans at Pit River; a full page "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" comic, an underground comic by Gilbert Shelton, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy toning. Faint horizontal fold crease present. Minor chipping and tearing along the extremities. Small faint pencil notations on the front page of each section.

Sobre Mare Booksellers

Mare Booksellers specializes in punk fanzines, with interests in underground newspapers and art. Who are we kidding? We really like anything with printed or handwritten letters, whether paper, books, etc. (Okay, letters and words aren't really that important either).
