The theoretical-methodological problems posed by the analysis of social movements are generated from three sources: the nature of the object of study; the difficulty of being able to define an explanatory paradigm of its genesis and, finally, the difficulty of establishing the type of relationship that may exist between the analyst and the social actors. The author tries to develop these themes from the perspectives of three authors who have contributed to the formation of a sociology of social movements: Alain Touraine, Alberto Melucci and Alessandro Pizzorno. /// The theoretical and methodological problems posed in the analysis of social movements are derived from three sources; the nature of the object of study; the difficulty of being able to define a paradigm explaining their origin and finally,the difficulty of being able to establish the type of relationship that may exist between the analyst and social participants.
