Sobre este artículo

1868 The Lost Cause Pollard MAP Confederate Civil War White Supremacy SLAVERY Edward Pollard was a notable American writer on the Civil War whose works, predominantly, covered the history of the American South. He wrote about slavery, the rise of Ku Klux Klan, the life of President Jefferson Davis, as well as an impressive account of the rise and fall of the Confederacy. The latter, titled 'The Lost Cause', was Pollard's most famous work, though not necessarily because of its popularity. 'The Lost Cause' gained its fame for Pollard's advocating for white supremacy and the relegation of blacks to a second-class status. Pollard supported the notion that slavery was the key to a Confederate way of life and nobility. According to Gallagher & Nolan, this book was likely "the first book that set forth the Confederate case against the generalship of Ulysses S. Grant." This 1868 subscription-only edition is illustrated with portrait engravings of notable CSA leaders including Jefferson Davis, Robert E Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, as well as a folding color map.
