Sobre este artículo
Chicago: Revell, 1903. First. Hardcover. Fine/good. photos, maps. Octavo, 390pp., maroon pictorial cloth; Rare dj stained, price-clipped ( inch panel cut away where the original price was).
Original Investigations and Discoveries. Story of the Fox, or Outagamie, Indian tribe and their near-destruction in 1730 near Plano, Kendall County, Illinois by the combined forces of Frenchmen and their Native allies. A very personal and idiosyncratic work which was extensively researched and remains the primary source for this event..However, a more-recently discovered map from 1731 suggests that the battle occurred east-southeast of Starved Rock State Park. Steward had been an assistant geologist for the Colorado River Exploring Epedition in 1871. [Jewell Y39]. While Steward's research into the battle was disproven by more recent discoveries, Maramech Hill had been used by natives - esp1ecially the Potawatomi tribe - so his archeological research for this site are still useful.

Sobre Thomas J. Joyce And Company
Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16. The book had vanished for nearly a century until its re-discovery in 2017. It is now back at Mt. Vernon.
