Sobre este artículo
London: Collins, 1964. 384pp. With a frontispiece and seven plates. Original publisher's blue cloth, red title label to spine, with the original publisher's price-clipped dustwrapper. Inscribed to half-title: 'Christmas 1964 For some train journeys to Brighton. George'. Loosely inserted is a Christmas gift-label inscribed âLarry from Georgeâ, previously taped to decorative FFEP. Likely inscribed by George Devine (1910-1966), an influential figure in English theatre. Devine was a close friend of Olivier over many years, and had acted together in Olivierâs 1948 production of The Skin of Our Teeth alongside both Olivier and his second wife Vivien Leigh. Olivier's third wife, Joan Plowright, studied under Devine at the Old Vic Theatre School, and he later supported her initially clandestine relationship with Olivier. From the library of Laurence Olivier, to whom many books were gifted over the length of his illustrious, industrious, and enduring career as one of the most important figures of stage and screen in the 20th century. . Second impression. 8vo.
Sinopsis
Vincent Cronin published his first book, The Golden Honeycomb , an exploration of Sicily as a mythological land, in 1954. He has since built a reputation -- over a series of scholarly, elegantly written works of history and biography -- as one of the finest popular historians of his generation. He divides his time between France and Spain.

Antiquates Ltd
Antiquates Ltd was established by Tom Lintern-Mole in 2007; we travel far and wide to buy, sell, and advise on rare books and manuscripts.
Concentrating on hand-press printing and early modern manuscripts, we pride ourselves on offering a varied selection of antiquarian works on a diverse range of subjects, leaning towards the interesting, the important, and the unusual.
We have a countryside bookshop in Wareham; we also regularly issue catalogues - do ask if you would like to be added to our mailing list - and frequently exhibit at regional and national book fairs in London, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, and York.
We also offer a valuation service (for either insurance or probate purposes), as well as advice on library development.
