Title, author and publisher design in gilt on spine, along with nature-based illustrations. Noticeable notch to top of front cover board. Minor bumping to corners and shelf wear to top and tail of spine. Noticeable wear to dust jacket, rubbing to top and bottom edges, small tear to lower front spine edge. Small tear to tail of jacket spine, as shown.
Full of engravings that depict the beautiful Irish countryside. Gibbings combines rural life, scenery and the rich folk tales and myths of Ireland.
Robert John Gibbings (1889-1958) was an Irish artist, engraver and author, most known for his rich depictions of the countryside. Credited as one of the leaders or the wood engraving revival in England.
