Sobre este artículo

The First UK printing published by George Routledge & Sons, London in 1938. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. The gilt titling remains bright. Some spotting to the text-block but the pages remain clean. Some light spots to the prelims. Free from inscriptions. The purple top-stain is present but uniformly faded. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Mild edge-wear to the spine ends with a slither of rubbing at the upper spine tip. A small closed tear to the front upper cover edge and the rear lower cover edge. Light toning to the spine. The William Kermode wrapper artwork looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Sergiusz Piasetski 'was one of the best known Polish language writers of the mid 20th century. His crowning achievement, 'Lover of the the Great Bear' was first published in Poland in 1937 and was the third most popular novel in the Second Polish Republic. Following World War II, Piasetski's books were banned by communist censorship in the People's Republic of Poland.' (Wiki). The 'Lover of the Great Bear' was adapted and directed by Valentino Orsini for the movies in 1971. A very scarce title to find in such collectible condition more-so with the stunning wrapper. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
