The earliest work on astrology that is extensive, comprehensible, and mostly intact, Marcus Manilius' Astronomica (circa AD 30-40) describes celestial phenomena, and, in particular, the zodiac and astrology. Octavo: xi, 149, [3] p. + xvi, [1], 196 p. with 3 folding tables. Full blue cloth binding, with gilt-stamped leather spine labels. Previous owner's ink signature and date to the front flyleaf. The spine is toned, with some minor wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
