Frontspiece, title in green and red; [xii]+224pp; a little spotting on title. orig. cloth-bacled grey boards gilt, slight wear on extremities, typed label on spine, 'Madame Butterfly' was based on the memories of Long's sister who had been to Japan with her husband, a missionary. The story has been the subject of four films and an opera by Puccini, which had its premiere at Milan in 1904.
