Sobre este artículo
Boston: Samuel E. Cassino, 1887. Cloth. Very Good. 13.5" by 11.5". Frank T. Merrill. A delightful illustrated edition of this Christmastime poem from William Makepeace Thackery. An illustrated edition of British novelist William Makepeace Thackeray's Christmas themed poem, which first appeared in Punch Magazine in 1847. The publisher's preface explains that this poem was 'a welcome addition to the Christmas literature of Christmas-loving English people', and is here published for American audiences to raise their Christmas spirits. This charming edition, featuring an inlaid wood panel to the front board, is illustrated throughout and features an illustrated title page from Frank Thayer Merrill, an American artist best remembered for his 1880 illustrations of Louisa May Alcott's 'Little Women'. With the bookplate of the Pottsville Free Public Library to the front pastedown, and a small number of library stamps to further pages. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail. Loss to tail of wood inlaid panel. Library plate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Small amount of spotting to perimeters of illustrated title page. Blind stamp to head of title page. Small ink stamp to a number of further pages. Pages otherwise bright and clean. Very Good
