Sobre este artículo
Missoula, MT: Peyton Moncure, 1960. Silver gelatin print [20 cm x 28 cm] / [8" x 11"] that has been nicely hand-colored. Photographer stamp on the reverse. Nice condition with good contrasts. Nice tinted view of Main Street in Bannack, Montana. This image was likely taken for Moncure's lecture on Montana Ghost towns that he gave on occasion.
Walker Peyton Moncure (1916 - 1987) was the son of a trader, who grew up among the Cheyenne and Crow Indians and spent much time with the Flathead, Pend d'Oreille, Blackfeet, Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribes. The Cheyenne named him "Ex-sar-sivia" (sharp-nose white man). He worked at Fort Missoula detailing Forest Service maps based on aerial photography and retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture News-Information Education Dept. Peyton Moncure earned a reputation as a writer-photographer, an authority on Montana Indians and ghost towns, and a wildlife conservation advocate.
