Scarce, Out Of Print, Book. "A historical novel of Renaissance Italy." Fourth volume in the Allan Quatermain Series. Boards are dark black cloth with embossed red lettering on front and spine. Boards and pages are clean, unmarked (except for prior owners' names that are neatly inscribed on both sides of front flyleaf), bright, tightly bound and sharp cornered. Corners of boards and spine top are lightly rubbed. Contains 216 pages of text, followed by a 16-page catalogue of other Longmans' published works of the time. This is an adventure fantasy in which Maiwa is a woman pursuing revenge. It was originally a two-part story published in Harper's Monthly Magazine in 1888, with 10 illustrations by Thulstrup. Scarce, Out Of Print, Book. .
