Springfield, MA & New York, NY: Radcraft Publications, Inc., May, 1937. 4to. pp. 641-704. Photo illustrations, diagrams, text illustrations throughout. Colour-illustrated softcovers, cover art of fireboat “Super-Power ‘P.A.’” directing fire-fighters (minor edgewear, dustsoiling to spine, some scuffing, creasing to upper corner), still VG- copy. First edition of this installment of the famed science & technology magazine founded by Gernsback (1884-1967). Of particular interest is the description of the sound system installed in the Manhattan Opera House for Max Reinhardt’s lavish pageant of Jewish biblical history and persecution using the orchestration and music of Leopold Stokowski (mostly lost). The famed production attempted to alert the world to the plight of German Jews under Nazism, and featured an elaborate five level set designed by Norman Bel Geddes.
