New York: The Manhattan Company, 1929 VERY GOOD in FAIR dust jacket. A clean, unmarked and firmly bound copy. Pages lightly edge toned, otherwise near fine. Brown hardcover is clean, lightly edge rubbed with some chipping at spine ends. Gilt lettering on spine and front has faded to almost nothing. An unusual copy in that the scarce dust jacket, or at least most of it, survives. The front panel with orange and blue artwork is intact, small chips to corners; the rear panel is heavily worn with large chips from bottom edge and chips, tears and creases along top edge. Rear panel has separated from spine and much middle of spine has large chip. Jacket is in a new clear archival protector. An entertaining history of Manhattan from Henry Hudson to the early 20th century, with delightful B&W line illustrations. 5-1/4 x 8"; xviii + 270 pages. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo.
