"The results of research in liturgy within the last few decades and the impact of the liturgical Movement Have caused manuals on religious ceremonial which were used in the past decades, such as, for example, A Prayer Book Manual published by the Episcopal Evangelical Fellowship on the one hand, or Ritual Notes by E.C.R. Lamburn and various "Missals" on the other hand, to seem as outdated and as lacking in liturgical nsophistication as, say, the Schofield Reference Bible for Biblical scholarship or the David C. Cook Series for Christian Education. Even the more sophisticated older works such as the pamphlets on ceremonial which have been published by the Alcuin Club or the Anglican Society now seem highly dated. The Church Army has published several helpful and sophisticated customaries for certain rites or days.
(A Customary for the Holy Eucharist; A Handbook for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday; The Virgil of Easter Eve) which can be highly recommended, but aside from those little is available that has been arranged with the American Book of Common Prayer or with Services for Trial Use or Authoirized Services 1973 in view. It is an effort to fill this gap that this manual has been compiled...." - from A Manual Of Ceremonial
