Sobre este artículo
Paris,: L'Auteur,, 1782 (sic = 1783).. [ii, blank], 345, [i], [ii, blnak] pp. 12mo (10,5 x 17 cm.). Contemporary marbled calf, spine richly gilt, gilt lettered on moocco label (top and bottom of spine damaged; upper half of the joints worn; corners slightly bumbed with some loss of leather; the gilt decorated slightly faded); marbled edges. ¶ Rare. Buchoz, physician to King Stanislas and démonstrateur en botanique au collège royal des médecins de Nancy, claimed to be the author of over 500 books, which were published during his life, and for which he spend the incredible amount of 220.000,00 livres. "The greater part of his numerous works was indeed compiled from the writings of others: an indiscriminate and often unauthorized procedure. L'Héritier established (not validly) a genus B u c h o z i a "to take revenge". The species inquestion, Lucium foetidum L.f., had a bad odor and was - according to L'Héitier - excellently suited for that particular purpose" (Stafleu/Cowan 1976). The bibliography of the Buchoz publications is difficult and complicated because of the rarity of many of the items. For example the British Museum (N.H.) catalogue records only a few titles. Not in Pritzel, nor in Arnold.-- (Paper slightly discoloured and with some light scattered foxing, but an acceptable copy and priced accordingly).

Fine and rare books in the fields of science, medicine, technology and the applied arts. Old fashioned printed catalogues and lists available on request.A note on binding conservation. All our ancient leather bindings are carefully cleaned with Brecknell's leather soap, and when needed, treated with hydroxypropylcellulose (in the case of dry leather). Finally we protect the leather with \"Cire 213\", the ultimate binding conservation wax developed by the BNF (Bibliothque nationale de France).
