Else bright and attractive.. Stated first printing of Hall's highly scarce second novel, the first to be published under his full name (his first, and a handful of subsequent mysteries, were published as "O.M. Hall" and then "Jason Manor"). Published while teaching Fiction at the Iowa Writer's Workshop, Hall would go on to become a respected novelist and professor at UC Irvine, but this early hard-boiled novel, set in the slums and stockyards of the Great Depression, would remain out of print from 1959 to 2018.
