Despite its flaws, a very good, handsomely bound book. <p>First edition.<p>A title in the series Les Femmes des Tuileries.<p>From the library of Alice Maud Livingston with her signature and the date 1894 on the flyleaf.<p>Arthur Leon Imbert de Saint-Amand [1834-1900] was a nineteenth-century French aristocrat, choreographer and historian of his times. He is best known for his accounts, often imbued with firsthand information, of the French aristocracy.<p>Maria Amalia of Naples and Sicily [1782-1866] became Queen of France when her husband Louis-Philippe, Duke of Orleans acceded to the French throne following the July Revolution of 1830. The book deals with her earlier life when she was in exile in Palermo, Sicily with her mother.<p>The text is in French.
